FAQ


The following FAQs apply to regular crowdfunding initiatives, which are on hold as of Friday, March 13 to focus efforts on the COVID-19 Student Support Fund established to assist students with unexpected and urgent expenses related to the impacts of the outbreak. For questions regarding the COVID-19 Student Support Fund, please contact the Development and Alumni Relations office at 1-866-758-2586. Notification will be provided when regular crowdfunding initiatives resume.



Q. What is Lehigh Crowdfunding?

Lehigh Crowdfunding is a powerful network of philanthropy that supports student-driven initiatives, which positively impacts the Lehigh community and beyond.  Crowdfunding inspires students, faculty, alumni volunteers and donors to rally around a passion-based cause, in a finite, urgent time frame.  Any Lehigh University recognized group, with an active account, can apply!  


Q. What is the Lehigh Crowdfunding timeline?

Each fall and spring Lehigh Crowdfunding will accept applications and select final projects/initiatives to be featured on the website for 5 weeks (6 weeks dependent on academic breaks).  Each project will begin and end the same time.  Leading up to the timeline kick-off, project leaders will participate in a staff led onboarding session and receive an orientation of all the materials and resources provided to all participating groups.


Q. Which organizations can participate?

Any recognized Lehigh University club or department can participate! In order for a group to be recognized, they must have an established university account to which funds can be directed. If you are part of a group or club and you do not have a university account, contact the Student Affairs Office, where you can work with staff to create one.


Q. How will donations be distributed?

Each donation made to a participating project initiative will be disbursed directly from GiveGab to Lehigh University, where funds will be directed to the correct university account.


Q. Who will receive my contact information?

The organization(s) you choose to support will have access to your name and email address. This information is used solely to send thank you messages, provide the option to receive future notifications, and to notify you of future activities.


Q. Do I need to create an account with GiveGab?

No. You do not need to create an account to make a donation. The benefits of creating an account include having your tax receipts collected in one location, being able to track your donations, follow the charities you support, and engage in future volunteering and donations.


Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?

Yes! Simply visit lehighcrowdfunding.com on your mobile device.


Q. What if my preferred organization is not listed?

Please send an email to ingive@lehigh.edu to request that we contact your organization of choice.


Q. Is my gift tax deductable?

Nonprofits are held to a high standard of government regulation and public scrutiny. And that is with good reason! Eligible 501(c) nonprofits are exempt from federal corporate taxes and have access to public funding. These benefits are not typically available to for-profit businesses, so laws are in place to protect the public and ensure nonprofits do not abuse their financial advantages. The IRS and states all have requirements for nonprofits.

GiveGab is a nonprofit giving platform that helps nonprofits to raise money, engage donors and manage volunteers quickly and efficiently. GiveGab offers a full portfolio of simple and easy to use products that allows organizations to function in a more streamlined manner.
