The Pop-Up Swap Shop inspires Lehigh students to minimize waste and encourage upcycling by sharing material possessions. We believe through this pop-up shop, students will consider what personal items and clothing they need and use versus what they want. Furthermore, students will come together to learn about the benefits of upcycling through educational materials and will be incentivised to practice sustainable skills such as altering clothing. This event is an inclusive, high visibility effort to share material resources and inspire a zero waste generation. All extra items will be made available to the broader Bethlehem community thereby contributing to the larger society and supporting Lehigh’s commitment to social equity.
Your donations will help us provide sewing kit giveaways, canvas bags for the first 100 participants, to create educational materials highlighting the process of upcycling and benefits associated, and to gain the tools needed to reach Zero Waste on Lehigh's campus through the national student association - Post Landfill Action Network (PLAN).
Your donations are critical to the success and implementation of the Pop-Up Swap Shop. With your donation, we will be able to create a large-scale zero waste event, potentially impacting 7,000 undergraduate and graduate students on campus. Along with this event, the funding will provide the opportunity for Lehigh students to participate in educational presentations that will enhance student learning about sustainability and zero waste on campus.
